Color Genes

The color genetics on Showhorse.com are based almost entirely on an article found on the UD-Davis website.

No single gene can be used to determine the color of a horse.  The entire genetic makeup of a horse must be considered to determine color.

We use the following terminoly for the color genes on Showhorse...

G - Graying

E - Extension

A - Bay Gene

D - Dun Gene

C - Diultion Gene

T - Tobiano

R - Roaning

Lo - Leopard Pattern
